John and Diane - Our StoryOur Story

It all started in a little place called cyberspace.

While working at home in early Summer 2002, Diane saw a segment on the TV show The View about their producer going on a few dates from men she met through Match.com. She thought it was a good idea and made a plan to post her profile on the site. However, being busy online made her put the idea on the backburner. Days went by, then weeks. It was August before she finally got around to post her profile on Match.com. Diane briefly described herself, including the fact that she loved to travel. She didn't expect much, just that her info was out there in cyberspace, waiting for the right guy to see it.

Right around that time, John's mom told him to post his profile and check out the listings on Match.com. He made his profile then looked through some listings. Among some that sounded interesting, he found Diane's. He wrote to her, she wrote back. Before long they were chatting over the phone, but not for long. They planned to meet just two weeks after they started talking.

On August 31, 2002, the soon-to-be couple made a plan to meet in Long Beach.

John picked Diane up at her home on Ocean Boulevard and went to King's Fish House for lunch. They had good food, enjoyed each other's company and grew more comfortable with each other. After lunch, they decided to take in a movie and watched Signs together. It must have been a "sign" because there hasn't been one day they haven't at least spoken to each other since! Starting that weekend, John and Diane have spent every free moment together.

John and Diane's Travel Adventures Begin.

Just six weeks after meeting each other, John and Diane set sail on a 10-day cruise through the Mexican Riviera just after Diane's birthday. They went on a pirate ship excursion and swam in Puerto Vallarta, snorkeled in Zihuatanejo, saw the sights and swam in the longest pool in Mexico in Alcapulco and ate the best Mexican food in Mazatlan. They hated to see the trip end but vowed to take another cruise again very soon.

The following Valentine's Day John took Diane on a romantic vacation up to Seattle. They had fun exploring the city, taking a harbor cruise through Puget Sound, visited the aquarium, shopped the Pike Street Fish Market, had a coffee at the first Starbucks and had a romantic dinner on top of the Space Needle. They even took a day drive up to Vancouver, British Columbia. It was a perfect Valentine's Day gift. (What did Diane get John that year? An Ionic Breeze, so they could spend weekends together without Diane's cat bothering John's allergies, lol!)

Through the next few months John and Diane took several smaller trips, from attending world premieres in Hollywood, thanks to Diane's connection at Warner Bros., to seeing a Steely Dan concert in Las Vegas. Then for Diane's birthday the couple took a cross-country flight to New York City. They saw a Broadway show, had lunch at the Carnegie Deli and went to the top of the Empire State Building.

In January 2004, the couple took another trip. As soon as they found out they were pregnant, the couple took an impromptu but romantic roadtrip to Las Vegas. This time, they came back married! Even though they couldn't stay in smoky casinos too long, they had a great time and stayed in a gorgeous suite at the Venetian. They are still planning a formal wedding sometime in the near future but the weekend alone in Vegas was a trip they will remember for a long time.

They were able to squeeze in another cruise in February 2004, this time a 7-day to the Caribbean. They had to take it easy because Diane was still in her first trimester but they managed to go snorkeling a few times and had a good trip.

Basically, they love traveling. And no matter where their next trip takes them, they'll be looking forward to getting there together. Only next time, as a family.
